My college girlfriends recently got together for a girls weekend in Dallas, and it was just what I needed! With everyone’s busy schedules it gets harder to get together every year, and I’m so happy we made this weekend work.
On the topic of girls weekends, I was recently a guest on the Desperately Seeking Travel Show podcast on the topic of girls trips. I’m introduced around 6:20 if you want to listen!
Lodging
We opted to stay at this condo we found on VRBO. It was a great location for what we had going on that weekend, with almost everything being walkable or just a quick uber ride up the street. We did have some issues getting access to the unit upon arrival, and they definitely need some better window treatments, but all in all the place was great for our purposes. The price was very reasonable when split amongst the group.
Saturday Morning
Saturday morning we woke up and went to work out (oh how these girls weekends have changed over the years)! Me and a few girls went to Yoga Pod Dallas for a Barre Class. It was in walking distance from our condo and was a great workout. I was sore for a couple of days! A few other girls took advantage of the gym at our condo.
Later that morning we went to the Bishop Arts District for lunch at Oddfellows and wandering in and out of some of their little shops.I found some easy-to-wear, lightweight earrings at a place called The Laughing Willow that I’ve been wearing non stop these last few weeks. One of my favorite things to purchase on trips is jewelry because if I ever get a question or compliment on the piece, it reminds me of the memories I made on that trip. See a recent snapshot of the earrings below.
Spa Day!
Later that afternoon, we headed over to the W hotel Bliss Spa to for our spa day. It was undoubtably a nice place, but doesn’t compare to some of the swankier spas we’ve visited as a group (namely the JW Marriott in San Antonio). Regardless, everyone loved their treatments so we were happy campers. We also got a group discount on our services, so always ask if they have any promotions for booking multiple services at one time! Most of us took full advantage of the spa locker room and showered/got ready for the evening while there.
Our appointments were staggered, so when we weren’t having treatments done we were able to hang out at their rooftop pool. It definitely had more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing spa vibe, but we liked it just the same.
Dining
Later that evening we had dinner reservations at The Capital Grille for Dallas Restaurant Weeks. Restaurant Week happens in all the major Texas cities, runs from August 1 through Labor Day weekend each year and raises money for local food banks. It’s a great way to try new restaurants, especially those that are more pricey than ones you would normally visit.
Not only did The Capital Grille have a great three course menu on the restaurant weeks menu, but they also had a promotion called The Generous Pour going onto simultaneously. This deal allowed you to sample seven wines for $28 (and they truly were generous pours)! This promotion unfortunately is over, but I’ve been told comes back every summer. On Sunday morning we had to get on the road relatively early, but not before a quick breakfast at Buzz Brews with the girls. We even had the littlest girl in our group join us, Miss Caroline!
I am so thankful for each of these ladies and for the friendships we we’ve been able to maintain and grow throughout the years. A big thank you to our Dallas girls for planning a fabulous weekend. There is effort on everyone’s part to pull off these trips, whether its on the planning side or the traveling side, but it is always, ALWAYS worth it!
