I recently won a $50 gift card to the Honest Company and chose both products I needed and ones would be interesting to review for you guys. Here are my honest thoughts!
Diapers
Let’s start with what everyone probably knows Honest for – their diapers! The prints are absolutely adorable. I didn’t order any diapers with my gift card, but did receive some as shower gifts. And I do admit that having cute diapers does make diaper changes just a little bit better. We had no problems with leaking or rashes with this brand, and of course I love that they are made without latex, synthetic fragrances or lotions.
My honest opinion – As cute as they are, they are a bit pricey. $.27/diaper if you get a monthly shipment and $.35/diaper if you do a one-time order. My stock up price is closer to $.10/diaper, so these are a bit of a splurge for me. They do sell Honest brand at grocery stores and Target, so you can get better prices if you buy during sales at those retailers.
Mineral Sunscreen Spray SPF 30
I’ve been searching for a sunscreen I can feel good about using on Adeline and myself this summer. I like that this spray comes out thin and goes on easily (and doesn’t make you turn white). It is made without chemical sunscreens and their non-nano zinc oxide is the ONLY active sunscreen ingredient. It’s also made without PABA, parabens, nano-particles, fragrances or dyes. The price is $13.95 for 6oz.
My honest opinion – I’ll buy this one again.
Conditioning Detangler
Another winner! Those who are close to me know how tangly my hair is. This detangler actually does a decent job managing my mane after the shower! The price is GREAT – only $5.95 for a 4oz bottle, and the scent is plesant. It’s made with argan oil, shea butter, jojoba, and quinoa proteins and without parabens, synthetic fragrances, dyes, or formaldehyde carriers. I’m happy to finally have a detangler that is safer and actually works!
My honest opinion – I will definitely repurchase!
Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser
I’ve been using this cleanser almost every day since I received it and have really enjoyed it. It lathers up nicely, is very gentle and doesn’t dry out my skin. I also really appreciate the pump bottle. It is made without SLS, SLES, sulfates, parabens, formaldehyde carriers, PEGs, MCI/MI, steareth-n, synthetic fragrances, or dyes. The price point is $18.00 for 5oz.
My honest opinion – I will absolutely finish using this product, and will consider repurchasing if nothing else catches my eye between now and then. Ultimately, I would recommend this cleanser.
Stain Remover
I had a request to search for a safer alternative for a stain remover, so I had to test out what Honest had to offer. From my experience, this product works well on most day-to-day stains, but if they’ve been sitting for awhile or are very pigmented, it might not get the job done. I have had to reach for my conventional stain remover a couple times to make up for what this product couldn’t do. It’s $3.99 for 26oz.
My honest opinion – I don’t think this is a bad product to have on hand, especially if you are trying to clean up your laundry game, but I wouldn’t rely on it completely. If you think a stain is going to be a tough one, I’d skip this and go straight to the strong stuff.
Soothing Baby Bottom Wash
You know those diaper changes that just need a little something extra for clean up? That’s where this bottom wash comes in. I had never heard of this product, so I had to give it a try. It’s definitely not something I use during every diaper change, but it has been helpful on a few of the more impressive ones! I’ve also used it when I’ve noticed any sort of irritation since it has organic aloe and witch hazel to help soothe. It’s made without SLS, sulfates, phthalates, parabens, fragrances, dyes or formaldehyde. It’s $9.95 for 5oz.
My honest opinion – This is not a “need to have”, but is definitely a “nice to have”. The 5oz bottle will last a very long time at the rate I am using it, so the price point seems reasonable. This would be a fun product to throw in a baby shower gift!
I hope this was helpful in case any of you are in the market for any of these products and are considering Honest Company!
I have been interested in trying some Honest products so this review was really helpful for me! I think we’ll try the sunscreen this summer!
So happy to hear, Emily!
