Attention Houston mamas!
My friend invited me and Adeline to a Float Baby class earlier this summer, and we had the best time. Float baby is water therapy for infants two weeks old through six months old, and the classes are split up into two sections – “swimming/floating” and infant massage. It’s done in an intimate setting, with only three baby and parent duos per class.
The first thing you do when you arrive is weigh your baby (I don’t have a scale, so I was happy to get a weight update!), and then your little one changes into a swim diaper (provided by Float Baby). Adeline absolutely loved the floating portion. She seemed a little unsure at first, but once she figured out how fun it was, she wouldn’t stop kicking!
After about 20-25 minutes of floating, they wrap your little one in a warm towel and you both move down to soft mats on the ground for infant massage. The instructor leads everyone in massaging their babies. This part of the class was very educational, and Adeline was so relaxed she fell right asleep. I think her first spa day was a success!
Water therapy has so many benefits for babies, including better sleep and digestion, improved mobility, and even increased cognitive ability later in life. I can attest to the better sleep claim – we got a pretty nice nap out of Adeline that afternoon 🙂
If you are a new mom in Houston and looking for a fun activity to do with a friend or family member while you are on maternity leave, Float Baby is worth checking out!
Can’t wait to take Adeline here!
