I have made it a personal mission of mine to find and review the best photographers in Houston for my readers, and I have definitely found another talented memory maker for you all – Karen Daniel Photography!

Karen’s Expertise and Style
Karen focuses on newborn, maternity, and baby milestone sessions. She also does mommy and me sessions like ours. If I had to describe Karen’s vibe, I would call it timeless. She uses soft, natural colors, rich textures, and minimalistic props to achieve her unique look. I was drawn to her style because it is different than any other photos we’ve taken as a family.

Karen Daniel’s Studio
Karen Daniel Photography is located in Spring, TX, so for any of my readers in the northern part of Houston, she is definitely one to check out. Although I think she is worth the drive no matter where you are coming from!
Karen has a studio in the front room of her home. One of my favorite things about studio sessions is being in the air conditioning. That one factor makes a huge difference in the mood of my entire family. We live in hot, hot Houston, so there are quite a few months out of the year that outdoor shoots can be uncomfortable. This session was taken in June, so we were definitely thankful it was indoors!
We also had the convenience of using the bathroom in her house to change clothes and take a couple of potty breaks for Adeline – something we would not have been able to do as easily during an outdoor shoot.

Studio Wardrobe
Karen has a studio wardrobe, which was a huge plus for me. I really appreciate this option because most likely I would buy a dress for the pictures that I wouldn’t have a lot of uses for in the future. Instead, you can wear one of her dresses (that she knows will photograph beautifully) and you can put your money towards the session!

The dress I’m wearing is from her wardrobe. I think the off-the-shoulder style is always really flattering. Karen sent me photos of her dresses beforehand so I had an idea of what I would be wearing. No need to worry about sizing, Karen pinned the dress to fit me perfectly. I did bring the kids’ outfits, but she has a few children’s options on hand as well.

Behind the Scenes
The session itself with Karen was great. She was patient with my kids (who were not cooperating in the slightest). She even had some wooden, neutral, and attractive toys on hand to distract the kids. This was genius because if the toy ended up being in the picture it wasn’t a complete eyesore. Definitely a photographer pro tip!

My personal favorite part of our session with Karen was her fan. She had a nice, strong fan that she had blowing on me pretty much the whole time. Not only did it make me feel like Beyonce, but it also kept me cool. You can see it blowing my hair away from my face in the image above!

Learn more about Karen Daniel
If you are interested in learning more about Karen Daniel Photography, I recommend visiting her website (which is very thorough on what to expect from a session with her). I also suggest following her on Facebook and Instagram for updates and to see her latest work.
You can learn more about Karen’s pricing and the additional safety measures she is taking due to COVID-19. A few extra tidbits that set Karen apart are that she only books a few clients a month to allow for rescheduling, she offers a la carte products, and all post-processing is done in house.
All in all, we had a great experience working with Karen and absolutely love the images. I adore her unique photography style and am so thankful for the beautiful, timeless memories she created for our family (Adeline 3, Jacob 1).
