Recently my mom, sister and I had a little “girls day” getaway to Travaasa Experiential Resort in Austin, TX. Note: Travaasa in Austin is currently under construction and will be opening under new management.
Travaasa is a really unique concept. It is so much more than a resort and spa. It is tucked away in the Cedar Park area of Austin and is undoubtedly on gorgeous grounds. What makes the place so special is all the extras they offer. They have a full schedule of “experiences” for their guests like cooking classes/observations, horseback riding, fitness classes, etc.
Since we were just there for the day, we did a couple classes, ate a great lunch in their restaurant and treated ourselves to services at the spa.
As someone who has always struggled with my complexion (and was pregnant at the time), I opted for the custom facial. I was thrilled to learn that Travaasa uses only natural, organic products for their treatments. I was even told by my esthetician that “I could eat everything she was putting on my face today”!
The main product line that was used at Travaasa was Laurel Whole Plant Organics. It felt amazing on the skin, and I have still been seeing the results even more than a month past our visit. I will admit that the price point for these products is above what I usually like to spend on skincare, but I did decide to spring for a few of them as I was so pleased with the results of my facial.
I purchased the travel size kit for oily/combination skin. The kit included the Oily/Combination Cleanser, Oily/Combination Elixir, Balance Serum, Almond Grain Exfoliant, and Citrus Spice Lip Treatment.
I have overall been very pleased with this purchase. The cleanser has a silky feel and is not drying at all. The elixir is a spray and something I have not really ever used before in a skincare routine, and I’ve actually grown to look forward to those couple of spritzes every morning and evening. However, my favorite part of the set is the Balance Serum. It is a nice, thick oil that absorbs nicely into the skin, without feeling sticky. As someone with oily skin it has taken me awhile to fully accept that putting oil on my face can actually be good for it. And I love how this one feels!
The kit also included the a citrus lip treatment, which was good, but nothing truly unique in my opinion. It also came with their almond grain exfoliant. The exfoliant is a loose powder that requires you to add an oil or cleanser in order to use it. It has a good size grain and makes for a good scrub. Not something I would necessarily buy again, but I will definitely enjoy it while it lasts.
My mom, sister and I had a great time at Travaasa and look forward to returning for another “girls day” in the future!
