Salvation Army Donation Pickup

Did you know the Salvation Army will come pick up donations from your doorstep?

I pretty much always have a donation bag or two at my house that I am filling with clothes and household items we no longer are using. I’ve also been known to drive around with said donation bags in my trunk for months with the intention of dropping them off at a donation center. This service has solved that problem for me!

Scheduling a pick up is easy:

1. Go to SATruck.org
2. Put in your zip code
3. Select what you are donating
   • Options include “bag/box of clothing”, “bag/box of household items”, etc. There is also a extensive drop down box if you have other specific items.
4. Select your date
   • They only pick up on Tuesday and Thursdays, and you have to schedule your pick up about a month out.
     • You do not have to be home for the pickup. You can leave the items on your front porch marked “SA” and the drivers will take them.
     • The month lead time was actually nice, in my opinion. I had the pick up date on my calendar, and it created a deadline for me to go through certain areas of my house by.
5. Set up an account if you don’t have one.

A few other notes:

• They called me the day before to remind me they were coming.
• They left a donation receipt for tax purposes in the door handle. You can also get a receipt online through your account.
• You can edit your donation at any time. For example if you realized you have more items or want to push back the date.
• Salvation Army is a Christian organization and puts 81 cents of every dollar towards programming. You can get more details on the charity here.

Overall, donation pickup with Salvation Army was a breeze. I already have another pickup scheduled for June.
